Eduardo Sanchez, M.D., M.P.H., FAAFP, American Heart Association Chief Medical Officer for Prevention copyright American Heart Association "The importance of studies about healthy eating and physical activity throughout the life course with a focus on pregnancy with regard to these particular studies, is that they help us understand what might be the important variables with regards to what one eats and what the outcomes are, and how physically active one needs to be to achieve good outcomes. One of the studies, interestingly, is about what a pregnant mother eats and the health of her child in the future, and I don't think there's anything that surprising. Healthier eating is probably the way to always go and moderate to vigorous physical activity, with the guidance of your physician, particularly at the latter stage of your pregnancy, can only be a good thing for your baby's health, for the mother's health, and for the health of the mother's heart."
